How Wrangler Plumbing
Got Started in 1986
Stan Curtis founded Wrangler Plumbing & Heating in 1986 with a simple promise: show up on time, do the work right, and treat customers like neighbors. He was one person with one truck, driving through Cody and the surrounding Big Horn Basin communities to fix leaky pipes, repair furnaces, and solve the plumbing problems that come with living in Wyoming.
Back then, homeowners had limited choices. You either called a plumber from out of town who didn't understand the local challenges — hard water from Big Horn Basin wells, frozen pipes during brutal Wyoming winters, the unique infrastructure of rural mountain communities — or you tried to fix it yourself. Stan knew the region intimately. He understood what made plumbing and heating systems fail in this particular place, and he built his reputation on showing up when he said he would and fixing problems permanently, not temporarily.
Four decades later, Wrangler Plumbing & Heating is still family-owned and operated. We've grown from one truck to a team of licensed technicians serving Cody, Powell, Lovell, Greybull, Basin, Worland, Thermopolis, Meeteetse, Byron, Clark, Shell, Burlington, and Ten Sleep. But we haven't lost the core values that built this business: honesty, quality craftsmanship, and treating every customer with the respect Stan showed from day one.
We're not a franchise. We're not owned by a national chain. We're the same company that's been serving your neighbors since Ronald Reagan was president. And we're not going anywhere — this is home, and we're invested in the success of the Big Horn Basin.
